The main areas of research

  1. Features of the ecology and biotopic distribution of invertebrates in different natural zones of Siberia.
    • Population dynamics of locust in natural and transformed ecosystems in the south of Siberia.
    • Migrations and parasitic relationships of dragonflies.
    • Population dynamics of blood-sucking insects (Diptera) and mechanisms for their control.
    • Community structure, population dynamics, and biocenotic relationships of carnivorous arthropods: ants, ground beetles, spiders, and harvestmen.
  2. Structural and functional organization of invertebrate animal communities.
  3. Ecological successions.
  4. The role of amphibiont insects in the transfer of nutrients from water to land in the steppe and forest-steppe zones.
  5. Ecological and ethological mechanisms underlying the formation of symbiotic relationships and coevolution of animals, in case of trophobiosis between ants and honeydew-producing insects. The effect of insecticides on aphids (plant pests) and ants: features of behavior of symbiont-partners.
